Amman - Desert Castle - Dead Sea - Amman

Breakfast at the hotel then visit the desert castles. Magnificent examples of the architecture and art of the early Islamic era, the castles of the desert of Jordan testify to a fascinating era inscribed in the rich history of the country. The refinement of their mosaics, their frescoes, their illustrations and their stone and stucco engravings, in the pure Persian and Greco-Roman tradition give us an overview of life as it was in the 8th century. Lunch during the visit in a typical restaurant. Departure for the Dead Sea and free afternoon. Since ancient times, its warm waters rich in minerals on which we float effortlessly attract. It has illustrious followers such as King Herod and the beautiful Queen Cleopatra. All of them gave in to the delights of a swim in the rich and stimulating black mud of the Dead Sea. In the late afternoon, return to the hotel in Amman. Dinner and overnight.

Amman-Madaba-Mont Nébo-Shobak-Pétra

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the Kings Road, visit of Madaba. The city of mosaics, both in the churches and in the houses, their high technicality, their artistic value, prove that this Byzantine bishopric which had 14 churches housed an extraordinary school of mosaicists. Lunch at a restaurant, then you will visit the Mt. Nebo, 10 km northwest of Madaba, presumed site of the tomb of Moses, Mount Nebo culminates at 840 m above sea level. It became a place of universal pilgrimage from the beginning of the Christian era. On the way to Petra, visit the castle of Shobak, one of the fascinating examples of the architectural and military traditions of the Crusader era. Their galleries, towers, chapels and ramparts still reflect the determination of the Crusaders who built them almost a thousand years ago. Continuation to Petra via the desert road. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Petra

Breakfast at the hotel then you will visit Petra which is located north of Aqaba, on the edges of the mountainous desert of Wadi Araba. The city is surrounded by imposing rust-colored sandstone hills that have given the city some natural protection against invaders. The site is semi-arid, the sandstone friable which allowed the Nabataeans to carve their temples and tombs in the rock which crumbles easily. The color of the rock ranges from pale yellow or white to rich red through darker brown for more resistant rocks. The deformed strata of rocks of different colors form volutes and waves of color in the rock face, which the Nabataeans exploited in their architecture. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Petra - Wadi Rum

Breakfast at the hotel then drive to Beidha, also known as "Little Petra", which is the place where the Nabataeans received their guests. It is one of the main commercial areas of Petra, the entry and exit point of the trade routes to the north and northwest. It was here that the caravans from the Negev, Gaza and Askalon, Jerusalem and the Phoenician coast arrived and settled for a while to trade. The merchants probably stayed in the secluded coolness of the Siq Al-Barid, the entrance to which is at the end of a narrowing of the valley. Then drive to Wadi Rum for a two-hour 4X4 jeep tour in the middle of the desert known as the Valley of the moon, following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia, climbing sand dunes and rocky bridges. It is a valley carved into the sandstone and granite rock of southern Jordan about 60 km east of Aqaba. The highest point of Wadi Rum is Mount Um Dami at more than 1800 meters above sea level. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Dug into the rock in the mountain of Thebes, this temple with three terraces built in -1455 is both harmonious and modern and although dedicated to the god Amun, there are also chapels of Anubis and Hathor, the protective goddess of women, then towards the southern part of ancient Thebes on the east bank of the Nile, with a visit to the temple of Karnak. Return to the boat for lunch. In the afternoon, start of the navigation to Esna. The passage of the lock will take place at the end of the day, and will be marked by a disguised evening "Galabia Party" with dinner and overnight on board.

Esna - Edfu - Kom Ombo

This temple of the falcon god Horus is both the largest temple of the Ptolemy dynasty and the second largest sanctuary in Egypt after Karnak. Inside, the intact paintings, inscriptions and reliefs make it the best preserved temple in Egypt.

Return to the boat and go up the river to Kom Ombo. Visit the temple of Kom-Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris. Erected on a hill by three Ptolemies, the temple is surrounded by an enclosure wall covered with reliefs. Inside, the space is divided into two parts: the northern one dedicated to Haroéris the god with the head of a sparrowhawk and the southern one to Sobek, the crocodile god. The Aswan region, rich in shale, alabaster and pink granite present only in this part of Egypt, provided the stone blocks intended for the pyramids, statues and colossi built by the pharaohs.
